The Kelowna Jays pounced on a one-inning lapse as they outgunned the Vernon ANAF Diamondbacks 12-4 in Okanagan Major Baseball League play Wednesday night at Marshall Field. The D-backs gave Jarred Sochan the ball for his first OMBL start, and he pitched well before being lifted in the fourth, allowing four runs. Trailing 3-0, the D-backs scored three runs in the third inning to equalize. C.J. Galozo, making his debut with the Diamondbacks, scored Vernon's first run on an RBI single by Ryan Boe. Josh Wade followed up with another single, before Oggie Ortman cleared the bags with a double. All three runs came with two outs. The Diamondbacks' downfall came in the top of the fourth, as the Jays cracked five runs to blow open a very close game. The D-backs responded with a single in the fifth, but the Jays stayed steady with their bats to earn the win. Mike Patitucci, John McInnis and Ashton Kodiak all saw time on the mound in the final innings. At the plate, Steve Daamen, Tyler Amiel and TJ Novakowski had singles. Wade finished at 2-for-4. |
