Game 1 was 2-1 Vernon heading to the bottom of the sixth inning when the D-backs took advantage of a couple walks before John McInnis cashed them in with a two-run double. Tyler Amiel then scored McInnis on a single. Kevin Cross threw six dominant innings, striking out 10 batters, while allowing only a single unearned run. Kyle Anderson took the ball in the seventh and allow an unearned run, before retiring the side to end the inning. Amiel went 2-for-3 with Peter Ortman and TJ Novakowski adding singles. Game 2 was a walk in the park for both teams, as 24 walks were issued, as well as two hit batters. Amiel again led the ANAF offence, going 2-for-4 and scorng three times. Ortman scored three times and added an RBI, while Bryce Whitehouse cashed in three runs and scored twice. Anderson also scored twice drove in a pair of runs. Josh Wade knocked in a pair with a single, and Aaron Himelson rounded out the offence with an RBI. On the mound for the D-Backs, Mike Patitucci scattered two hits over 3 1/3 innings of work, with Tyler Gertzen picking up the win shutting down the Pirates with an effective 3 2/3 innings. The Vernon ANAF Diamondbacks are showing no mercy on the Okanagan Major Baseball League expansion Penticton Pirates. The D-backs swept the Pirates for the third straight time Saturday at Marshall Field, winning 5-1 and 13-5.
