The Vernon Diamondbacks fell short of their goal of gaining a berth in the 2009 BC Senior Men's Baseball Provincials. It was a rough weekend on the field for the D-Backs, with an 0-4 record and a 4^th Place Finish.  After falling 7-2 to Kelowna, and 9-6 to the Kamloops Black Sox, The D-Backs came out flat against the Kamloops Sun Devils, giving up 5 runs in the first, and would end up falling by a 11-1 mercy rule score.  The D-backs only managed 2 hits of Sun Devils Starter Pat Brown, with Bryce Whitehouse and Jarred Sochan each collecting singles. Pete Ortman was the starting pitcher for Vernon, and didn't get much help from the defence, which committed 7 errors. 

On Sunday in the Bronze Medal game, the D-backs would fall 10-3 to the Kamloops Black Sox.  Josh Wade and Oggie Ortman each had singles for Vernon, with Ryan Boe adding a double.  On the mound Oggie would work 3 innings, with 3 strikeouts, while giving up 6 runs (4 earned).  Mike Patitucci would then throw 1 2/3 innings, with one strikeout and 4 earned runs. Boe would get the final out of the 5^th, and all 3 in the 6^th, collecting 2 Strikeouts.
